Tau Sigma Honorary Society
Tau Sigma is an academic honor society designed specifically to recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students. The OSU chapter was founded in 2006.


Welcome New Members!
The OSU Chapter of Tau Sigma is proud to welcome its new members for the 2008-2009 year. If you have accepted membership this spring you will soon be sent an invitation to the Tau Sigma Induction Ceremony, which will be held Friday, April 17, 2008. You will also receive an email in the coming weeks inviting you to a student meeting to elect officers for the coming year. Those officers will be installed at the Induction Ceremony. Requirements

To be invited, a student must:

- have transferred to OSU from another academic institution with at least one full year’s academic
credit satisfied at the prior institution(s), a minimum
24 hours of college-level course work.

- have completed a minimum of 12 hours of regularly
graded coursework at Oklahoma State University, not
including 0-level, pass-fail, Gateway or dual
concurrent enrollment, or leisure activity courses.
These hours must be taken during the first regular
semester, fall or spring. Summer work will not be
included.

The minimum OSU first semester grade point
average required for membership is a minimum 3.5
on a 4.0 scale or an academic average that places the
prospective candidate in the top 20 percent of all
incoming transfer students during their first semester.

Letters are mailed from the National Tau Sigma
Office to qualifying students a month following their
first fall or spring semester at OSU. Students must
return their application form by the given deadline in
order to be a member. Late applications will not be
accepted. Membership into Tau Sigma is a one-time
offer.

Students qualifying for Tau Sigma, whose first OSU-Stillwater semester is fall 2009, will be contacted in early Spring 2010. Invitations will be mailed to home addresses in February. E-mails will be sent to students before the mailing goes out. The deadline to accept membership and pay dues will be mid spring. Late applications will not be accepted. Invitations are a one-time offer. Students who accept membership will be inducted in the April 2010 ceremony, along with students who accepted membership fall 2009.
