The purpose of the Transfer Student Organization, as stated in the TSO Constitution,
shall be to recognize undergraduate students transferring to OSU from another academic institution and
to encourage and promote the students’ involvement in the campus and community. All transfer students (even international transfer students) are invited to join. There are no gpa requirements. Project Graduation 2006 The TSO will be collecting non-perishable food items and books for Project Graduation, a campaign to fight literacy and hunger within the OSU community area. Project Graduation events are scheduled to take place at the two main entrances of Gallagher Iba arena on Saturday December 16th. Participants are encouraged to bring canned goods or books for donation. Our 2006-2007 TSO officers: President- Loren McCoy is a senior Political Science major. She transferred to OSU in 2004 from Tulsa Community College, where she was active in student government and a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor society. Here at OSU she is active in her service sorority Omega Phi Alpha as well as the Sailing Club. She is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha honor society and has been recognized on the President's Honor Roll. Loren hopes that all transfer students will join the TSO family and invites anyone with questions to email her at logales@aol.com.
Vice-President- Megan Zigler is a junior Communication Sciences and Disorders major. Megan transferred from Hastings College in Hastings Nebraska after her freshmen year in 2005. At Hastings College Megan was part of Alpha Omega Sorority where she participated in service projects such as, collecting cans for Nebraska AIDS, helping with Meals on Wheels, and Operation Christmas Child. In a group project, to reach out to the community, for a communication class Megan received the “Leadership” Award-presented by the Hastings Area Continuum of Care for recognition of commitment to the hungry and homeless children of Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties of Nebraska. Now at OSU Megan is a Residential Assistant in the honors dorm and is working on her departmental honors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Megan is a member of the Tau Sigma academic honor society for transfer students, Iota Kappa honor society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She recently received an award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in recognition of high scholastic achievement in the 2005-2006 year.
Secretary-Katie Upton is a sophomore Accounting major. Originally from Oklahoma City, Katie participated in newspaper, National Honor Society, Key Club, Choir, and Student Council. She transferred from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, in August 2005. At UMW she was an active member of her residential hall and made the Dean's List. Here at OSU she is a member and assistant treasurer of Phi Mu and advertising chair for her residential hall wing. She was recently chosen to serve as a Transfer Student Peer Mentor. Last semester she was recognized on the President's Honor Roll. She will graduate in May 2008.
Treasurer- Debbie Evans is a senior liberal studies major. She transferred from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK with an Associate Applied Science degree to Oklahoma State University in the fall of 2004. The first semester Deborah was recognized on the Dean's Honor Roll. She is an invited member of the Tau Sigma national academic honor society. She resides in Ponca City, OK and is the mother of Kimberly Evans a sophomore at OU and the late Thomas Evans.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2006,in the Student Union, Exhibit Room 2 (415) at 5 p.m.

April 13th and 14th, 2006-Transfer Orientation Days.Transfer Student Peer Mentors, TSO and Tau Sigma members will meet and greet incoming transfer students and address any questions and concerns they may have about OSU. Opportunities to work the Browse Session in the Union and in the UAS office where we will have an all day reception for transfer students will be available.
